These Terms and Conditions apply to any agreement between you (the client) and me, Sylvia Kennedy (the therapist), for the provision of hypnotherapy consultations and treatments. They are designed to protect your interest as a client. The agreement comes in to force once you have made a first booking for a hypnotherapy session.
If you are unable or unwilling to agree to these Terms and Conditions then you should not book an appointment, continue with your course of treatment or browse this website with the intention of seeking therapy. Please notify Sylvia Kennedy of this situation.
I am committed to enabling you, the client, to help yourself and to achieve your desired goal, finding the most effective way to solve your problem and to move on with your life. Hypnotherapy is very much a partnership and it is essential that you understand from the outset that the treatment agreed requires a collaborative approach by both parties.
Therapy Consultations and Fees
Each consultation lasts approximately one hour with one initial consultation free of charge.
The number of visits will vary depending on your personal circumstances and progress in addressing and resolving any issues, and this will be explained during the first consultation. As treatment progresses, any additional consultations deemed necessary will be clearly explained, with reasons, and agreed by both parties. The charge per session will be £50.00. Payment will be due in advance of an agreed programme of consultation. For example, payment for an agreed programme of 3 sessions will be due in advance of the first session.
Payment may be made by cheque, cash or by electronic arrangement.
Your attendance is part of the commitment to the agreed therapeutic treatment. If you wish to change, postpone or cancel an appointment, 24 hours notice must be given; otherwise the full cost of the session is payable. In the event that I am unable to conduct an agreed session due to illness or any other unavoidable event, as much notice as possible will be given and an alternative time agreed between us. If you wish to discontinue your course of therapy, you do not have to give a reason. There can be external circumstances that make attendance difficult, but it is helpful if you can discuss these changes so that if and when you wish to resume therapy, these changes can be taken into account. Following your last appointment your rights of confidentiality are permanent. Clients’ records are destroyed after 10 years.
If you are running late for your appointment, please call me or leave a message (01202 904811). I will do my best to accommodate you but please bear in mind when you are late that you may be taking up time dedicated to another client. I may also be in consultation with another client and be unable to pick up your message, so the sooner the better. Any appointment beginning late due to delayed arrival may still need to end at the originally agreed time.
Confidentiality and Records
Any information I collect from you as a client or potential client, including your contact details, will be held in the strictest confidence. Your privacy will be respected and the details you disclose will be used solely for the purpose of providing you, the client, with the highest level of service possible. No information will be passed on to any external parties without your express written permission. Where express permission is given to share information with an external party, I will only supply client-approved information that I believe to be in your best interest. During your treatment period please ensure that I have your up-to-date contact details.
Exceptional circumstances of confidentiality include where there is a criminal or civil court case where a court order has demanded disclosure, and where there is good cause to believe that failing to disclose information would cause danger or harm to the client or others. Child protection issues fall into this category.
All written, audio or otherwise recorded material arising from our sessions will be kept secure and only disclosed with your explicit signed permission or on provision of a Police warrant.
We will need to complete a medical questionnaire at the start of the first consultation to establish any contra-indications to treatment. It is also to assess whether your health is affecting or being affected by the therapeutic goals you wish to achieve. Please be honest when submitting this information. Please update me if there are any medical changes during your course of therapy, or if you are returning for therapy after a period of absence.
Standards of Behaviour
During the course of therapy I will treat you with respect and not abuse the trust that you placed in me. In return, you will undertake not to harm yourself or any other person, including me the therapist or any property belonging to me or the practice. You agree to come to the sessions not under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs, except those prescribed by your doctor. In the event of conduct that contravenes these standards of behaviour, I reserve the right to cancel the session and any further therapy sessions.
A well-motivated client is very likely to achieve realistic goals. However, it is unethical to guarantee a cure. The control of thoughts, beliefs, emotions and behaviours always reside within you the client. No client is “made” to do anything against their will using hypnosis.
I guarantee to apply my training, expertise and experience to your issues with the aim of achieving goals in as reasonable time as possible. Estimates of the number of sessions required to treat a condition given at the enquiry stage or at the first consultation are given on the basis of information presented at that time. Each client and the cause of their condition is unique and therefore estimates can only be approximate guidelines and are subject to change.
